February 2003 - Using Direct Marketing In Political And Civic Campaigns

This was our big chance to get inside the Beltway, and we don't mean I-485. At this session, we heard Hal Weatherman, Chief of Staff for U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick, discuss how effective direct marketing can influence the outcome of any election. He also put a positive spin on analyzing districts to help both candidates and issues win. If you think office politics are tough, just imagine having to work in politics. As Chief of Staff, Hal oversees the day-to-day operations of Sue Myrick's three congressional offices located in Charlotte, Gastonia and Washington, DC. In addition to this duty, Hal has successfully managed her last three congressional re-election bids.

Hail to the Chief

A native of Charlotte, Hal is also a graduate of Wake Forest University and received his Master's Degree in Communication from Wheaton College. In 2001, the Charlotte Business Journal named Hal as one of the 40 most influential Charlotteans under the age of 40. But there's a lot more to Hal than his public persona. He is also a published author, with his first book, the "Job Search Organizer" available nationwide at Barnes and Noble, Borders Books and online at Amazon.com. (Not that any member of the CDMC is looking for a job.)
